2025 in review

So, I know I’ve not posted very much here on the blog this year. The main reason I’ve not posted much is that, well, for most posts I make I don’t get any comments. To me that means few, if any are actually reading them. So why write if nobody is going to read?

During 2025 I’ve been involved with a String Quartet project. I have been taking existing arrangements and compositions from my catalog that are for other instruments and adapting, re-arranging and re-typesetting for String Quartet.

Including three titles that will soon be available, I’ve sent 125 new titles to my distributor, Hal Leonard (via the ArrangeMe platform). I’ve also added 10 recordings to my SoundCloud page. Of the 125 new sheet music titles, one was for Piano, one for Organ and one for Concert Band. Two were for orchestra. I may have 3 new Woodwind Titles up before the end of 2025. If not, they’ll be available in January 2026.

For every new title I send to my distributors I also include a video on YouTube that shows the score along with a mock-up recording.

What groups (strings, winds, brass, piano, organ, handbells, orchestra or choir) would you like to see added to my catalog? Do you have any specific titles you’d like to see arranged?

In addition to my arranging and composing efforts I continued to work as a freelance engraver.

I continue working for the startup company synchestra.ai. They are about to release an app that will allow one to play along to a concerto. For them I have to engrave everything and do the layout work. The standard for them is comparable to many urtext editions. I’ve done two bach concertos (harpsichord and violin) among other titles. During 2026 I’ll be doing some arias from Puccini. All of the work for them is required to be done in Dorico. Having used Finale, Sibelius and MuseScore and I can’t imagine how much harder it would be to use any program other than Dorico.

During 2025 I engraved almost every hymn from a hymnal as my work for hymnary.org continues. (For them I only have to engrave the music and lyrics. They do their own automatic formatting via their website).

In November of 2025 I celebrated 20 years as organist/pianist/music director at Church of the Mediator in Micanopy, Fl, near where I live. The church has been very supportive of me and are a congregation that likes to sing and to sing hymns. Stop by some Sunday morning and say hi.

I also try to teach piano lessons but at least in the Gainesville, Ocala area of North Florida, nobody wants to take lessons, at least not in Micanopy. If you live in the area and would like to take lessons in Micanopy, please contact me. I can also teach lessons over the internet so it really doesn’t matter where in the world you live.

I'm also available for composition, theory and Dorico music notation lessons. Drop me a note if interested.

What would you like to see from me musically in 2026?
